not a doll
trying our best to ensure the kids don’t treat her like a new toy arrival…what can you do.
mommy gives details!
Thanks for all the Congrats! We welcomed a baby girl:
Jovi Moriah Madison
8 lbs 15 oz
19 3/4 in
born 2:54 p.m. PST on Monday, March 29
Jovi means: Joyful
Moriah means: God has ordained
I was induced using Pitocen starting at 10 a.m. So it took about 5 hours altogether! I predicted to the doctor that she would be born by 3…and I was right :D They barely added Pic to my IV I think they said 4 mics which is very low, it was less than 2 bags altogether…they were all amazed. They gave me an epidural around 12:30 I think…it took awhile to work, b/c I was in full labor at that point, but once the pain was regulated my doc broke my water, and Jovi came like an hour later.
She is super sweet. We’ll keep her :D
The kids think she is a doll; we keep reminding them that she is a real live human that feels pain. Journey (the previous “baby”) wasn’t sure about Jovi at first, but is warming up to her. Journey had decided to give up the binky (at FIVE years old) when the baby came, so last night was really hard for her (and mommy) but she was a champ. She made it through the night binky free. We had to go in and pray with her several times, but she did it with God’s help. I’m hoping it gets easier every night.
Jovi had a fine first night at home. She woke up a few times, but I think we got 1.5 hours, then about 2 hours, and then about 2.5 hours of sleep at a time! I think that’s pretty good for a first night. She is eating well, and I think has gotten rid of the meconium with 4 poopy diapers in a little over 24 hours. We are going in the the dr. today for a jaundice check b/c her bilirubin numbers were a tad high.
If you are the praying kind: here are some specific requests we have:
* for Journey that she’ll be okay without the binky and that she will feel okay about not being the baby anymore.
* for breastfeeding…its extremely extremely painful for me right now. She has very good suction, which is good, but bad for me right now. Truly, its more painful than birthing pains right now, and I have no epidural:D
* for no jaundice
* for rest…enough said!
Thank you guys so so much for all your support and prayers!
See you at home!
